Do you have a small space? Are you looking to bring depth to your room by adding a mirror? If your answer is yes!, you are at the right place. Positioning the mirror at the right place makes the room look larger and well lit.
Its very hard to find huge mirrors for an affordable price especially when you want it to match the decor of your room. Here is a simple DIY Ikea mirror hack.
All you need is:
- Mirror – I bought it at Ikea. Click the link to buy.
- Frame Light– I used this light with the mirror to use it as a dresser mirror.
- Painters Tape – For prepping the mirror
- Scissors
- Spray Paint – Used metallic gold to make the mirror look even in my room.
Step 1. Prepping the mirror – I used a 25 5/8×59″ NISSEDAL mirror from Ikea. Start with covering the mirror with paper and tape to avoid paint stains from spraying. I used paper towel and a transparent sheet that came with the mirror.

Step 2. Spray paint – Slowly start spraying the frame edges. I used Rust-Oleum metallic gold spray to paint my mirror. Make sure you wear a mask to avoid contact with your eyes. Spray a coat, let it dry for couple of minutes and repeat it twice for a smooth even coat.

Step 3. Installing the Light fixture – Before placing the mirror on the wall. Choose the center of the wall, fix the light and run the wire. Now, fix the mirror on the wall. Make sure you position the mirror so that the light is in the center of the mirror.
